                                      Latest News : May 2012

Pretty quiet month thus far so we are using the time to add a few new songs to our repertoire. We have had a few more gigs booked - one for 2013 ! Plans for this year's SouthMolton Carnival are well underway. For those who don't know, we won the Best in Carnival award last year which was a bit of a surprise.

Wheelchairs and The Honeytones :

A young person applied to join the band a little while ago and sadly had to be turned down because we have no means of getting her wheelchair safely to our practise venue - we have to ascend a long steep flight of stairs to get there.

This is a great shame because it means that anyone in a wheelchair is effectively barred from becoming a fully fledged Honeytone. If anyone has any ideas how to address this Bob would love to hear from you via our contact page.

You can find out more about The Crystals by clicking the picture above and browsing their own pages.

We are still looking for a band leader in the Exmouth area for Bystock - someone with a bit of musical knowledge and a PILE of enthusiasm and commitment. Willing volunteers for the job please get in touch with Bob through the Contact page.

               Jacob Price 1984 - 2011

The devastating news of Jacob's death on January 12th came as this site was being prepared. It seems fitting therefore to dedicate the site to his memory.

Jake joined the band in 2004 and immediately established himself as a leading light with his infectious enthusiasm and a gravelly voice which would be the envy of any hard blues singer. He also had a rare talent for always getting Bob to pay for his coffee without feeling the slightest of guilt.

We never knew Jacob to lose his temper, get angry, swear or even be impolite. He taught us so much about how we should all treat each other as human beings.

He wasn't prejudiced, and neither the seven deadly sins nor the 10 commandments were written for the likes of him. He was in short (no pun intended) a lovely gentle man and it was our great privilege to call him our friend.

God Bless You Jacob Price.

One of the last pictures to be taken of Jacob has been recently added to his page, along with a previously unseen picture taken at band practise, a few days after we got the news of Jacobs passing - click HERE to see them.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW MEMBER - MERYL (Far left)

Welcome to the new look completely revised Honeytones website. I hope you enjoy your visit and that you will stay long enough to have a good look around and see what we are all about.

The site is a lot less "fussy" than the original one. You'll find no gimmicks or clever effects because my aim is to have a site that is user friendly especially for those with a learning difficulty. Font sizes are perhaps larger than usual and this is to make it easier for those with a visual impairment.

The site comes to you courtesy of a Big Lottery grant - a plug we are very happy to make because without Big Lottery support over the last few years we simply would not exist in our current form.

We plan on adding and improving the site on a regular basis so let us know what you would like to see here. If you would like to help or support us in any way then do please contact us - we are here today because of the help given to us by a lot of wonderful supporters.

Special thanks to my wife of 30 years, Trudy. As is so often the case, she is the hard working woman behind the scenes, always helping and never being credited. The band would not be what it is without her constant support and effort.

A very big THANK YOU is also due to Rob and Cathy Doel, proprietors of The George Hotel in South Molton. They are huge supporters of the band and allow us free use of their beautiful Georgian function room for our weekly practise sessions.

Booking the band is simple. And you don’t have to worry if you can’t afford it, we are free of charge - we refuse to deny access to anyone for the sake of a few quid. But if you can afford a donation to go toward our costs then we will happily and gratefully accept.
